Character Restoration Initiative (CRI) was formed in 2016 as a 501 (c) 3 to support the operation of programs for inmates at Allendale Correctional Institution (ACI) in Fairfax, South Carolina.  Since its inception CRI has raised over $140,000, and recruited over 600 volunteers to bring a wide range of opportunities for inmates that are designed to prepare them for life after release.

THIS IS NOT AN EXPERIMENT - In July of 2015, the SC Department of Corrections recognized ACI, from 22 state prisons, as the character institution for the state.  And in 2017 ACI was selected to as the location for the Youthful Offenders Program.

To reduce recidivism using programs that provide rehabilitation through addiction recovery, educational and spiritual opportunities, vocational training and character development.   By taking this holistic approach our organization helps support transformed men and support them to return to their communities.

All of the volunteers at ACI will tell you what a rewarding experience they have had in working on programs. Our mission cannot be delivered without the participation of men and women who give of themselves for a great cause.

98% of inmates are released at some point; "warehousing" them until that day does not work.  Many volunteers stay in touch with released men who will attest to the difference that CHARACTER BUILDING made to their lives and their preparedness for re-entering society.

A visit to ACI can be arranged for anyone with an interest in volunteering.
